Tommy Henrich
Tommy Henrich(1913-2009) Old Reliable was the Keynote Speaker at the first SABR national convention I attended, in Scottsdale in 1999. I actually did not even hear his keynote speech. My son, Mat, was with me and was hanging out with the son of another SABR member. That dad watched the boys in the pool during the pre-banquet reception (when this photo was taken). Then we switched places and I spent the banquet time in the pool with the boys.
What I remember most about Tommy’s visit that day was that he came a few hours early and regaled a number of worshipping SABR members with stories from his playing days. I don’t know who was having a better time: the members or Tommy.
