Ghosts in the Gallery: Sixteen Little-Known Members of the Hall of Fame
Fleitz, David
McFarland, 2004

Fleitz has done a number of fine books for McFarland, including biographies of Cap Anson and Shoeless Joe Jackson, as well as The Irish in Baseball. While most casual fans of the game know about Christy Mathewson and Babe Ruth, there are many men in the Hall who are virtual unknowns. Fleitz tells the stories of sixteen, in concise, enjoyable chapters that reveals the controversial workings of the Hall's Veterans' Committee, which admits figures who have long passed from the baseball stage. Fleitz has also written More Ghosts in the Gallery: Another Sixteen Little-Known Greats at Cooperstown.
