Jack Quinn Update
Two papers were presented at the March 2007 NINE conference in Tucson, and both are tentatively scheduled to be published in the Spring 2008 issue of NINE: A Journal of Baseball History & Culture.Steve’s article is "World War One & Free Agency: The Fateful 1918 Battle for Jack Quinn Between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox." The other article is by Quinn relative E. Michael Scott and delves into the true origins of this remarkable pitcher, who still today owns some baseball longevity records (inc. the oldest pitcher to start in a World Series game and the oldest pitcher to appear in a World Series game). Michael’s article is "John 'Jack Quinn' Picus: Not Polish, Not Welsh, and Not Born in America at All." Find out more about Jack Quinn...
